I'm so glad you've stopped by my blog! I am a Women's Minister and a former Pastor's Wife. I love finding God in my regular-everyday-stuff. I struggle with keeping up with the laundry, I love blogging, and my kids are my first line of ministry. I am recently widowed. So God and I are on a brand new journey as I try to find peace and understanding. Please grab a cup of coffee and let's get to know one another as we journey on our faith walk together.

Your Favorite Cup

I am an avid coffee drinker!  How about you?  I like to have a nice cup of coffee fixed just right - you know, with just enough sweetener and milk to make it taste super yummy - as I read my Bible in the morning.  I'm sure I could read my Bible without coffee!  But who would want to!!!

And I don't just drink from any ol' cup either!  I have a TON of coffee cups in my cabinet.  They are all special in their own way.  I have some that special friends have given me - I have some that my sweet husband has given me - I have some that I have made myself at Ladies' Craft Nights - and they are all treasures to me!

In fact, it's part of my morning fun to pick the mug or cup that best fits my mood at that moment.  Sometimes I want A LOT of coffee - so I pick that really big one we got from Starbucks while living in Texas.  Or sometimes, I'm missing my special friend from Houston so I pick the one she gave me - or sometimes I just want a small quick cup - so I pick the one that is short with lots of flowers all over it!

What I'm trying to say here is - my cup is a part of my coffee experience.  It really does make enjoying my coffee all the better!

This morning I found THE BEST cup ever... in God's Word:

Psalm 16:5-6 (ESV)
The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.  The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.

The Lord is my cup!  Now this is a cup I can take with me long after the coffee is all gone!

If you're here from iFellowship - WELCOME!
I'm so glad you came today!
Please leave me a comment so I can get to know you better!

Let me know how you drink your
morning coffee!
Do you have a favorite cup?
Tell me all about it!  I love this kind of stuff!

I brought a couple cups down to Bolivia when we moved because I like drinking my coffee out of a favorite cup too. Somehow it tastes better. :) I brought a red Starbucks cup and a princess cup. :)

Hi Penny! You are a woman after my own heart!!! So glad you stopped by my blog so that I found yours!

Yes!!! For many many years... this was my regular too - the joy of picking out just the right mug to start my day, my coffee and my Bible!

Life has changed somewhat for me... I can't drink coffee anymore, but I quickly substituted it with tea and a whole collection of teacups. I pick the one that fits the mood - both mine and the season and the day :-)

And my time with God is always punctuated with the great taste of tea, lovely soft piano music in the background and a wonderfully scented candle... can you tell I draw close to God through my senses?

I will enjoy reading more of your blog. Again, nice to meet you!

Thank you so much Penny, for stopping by my blog!

I actually don't drink coffee ;o) I am strictly a water girl! Mmmm unless it's a Starbuck's mocha ;o) So I'd have to say my favorite coffee cup is a Starbucks mocha drink cup! haha

Be blessed!

Penny ... thanks for stopping by my blog ... so nice to meet another Penny. We have more than our name in common ... women's minister, minister's wife and the SAME coffee habits (even pick my coffee cups the same way)

So glad to "meet you". penny

Well first of all I am addicted to Komodo Dragon Blend from Starbucks. Starting with that, I add splenda and half & half. I think I have a cup per child, so that means I am up to 4 cups each morning!

But you are write to say He is my portion and my cup! Without Him filling me, well then I would be lost!

Thanks for stopping by 29lincolnavenue today! Yes, I am honored to part of the MODsquad team. It has been amazing to see God build a community of passionate moms over there! So nice to meet you!

Have a great day!

Hi Penny,

I really enjoy your writing. Hmmm, I am a coffee drinker. I drink it black and all of our coffee cups are either white or clear. We're a bit modernist around here:-) Clean and simple works well for us.

I do have a special cup! It is a 32 ounce Dollywood cup. The majority of the mornings I will fill it with water! However, the last 2 mornings, it has been filled with coca cola!!

But I do enjoy the cup from the Psalms! Especially the one in Psalm 23 that says "my cup runneth over!"

Blessings to you my friend! :)

I don't drink coffee, but I do have a cup! It is a 32 ounce Dollywood cup. The majority of the time I fill it with water. However, the last 2 mornings I have filled it with coca cola!! I am keeping 2 extra girls for the week and I am worn out! LOL

I so enjoy reading your blogs! Thanks for stopping by mine!

Oh, by the way I love the Psalm that says "my cup runneth over"!

Blessings to you!

Great post! I have lots of special cups, but my favorite one for the past few years has been a big, curved white one that came from I don't know where. What does this say about me? :-)

Hi Penny! Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's so nice to find other women focused on their faith and family! I am a HUGE coffee drinker; I pour my first cup before my eyes are fully opened! I have a favorite mug - it's a blue speckled, oversized mug from an indoor waterpark/hotel we have taken the kids to. I don't know why it's my favorite, it just is! Thanks for sharing the verse. It's a great one.
